Stephen Brown, Ph.D., combines rock physics, geophysics, and structural geology in an effort to solve problems in Earth, energy, and environmental sciences. His primary interests are the physical properties of fractured and otherwise heterogeneous rock as well as the application of geophysical methods to mining, energy, and environmental problems. Work combines field studies and mapping, experimental geophysics in the laboratory, computer modeling, and theory. He also develops smart geophysical and environmental sensor systems by combining analog and digital sensors, micro-controllers, micro-computers and AI. He is owner of Aprovechar Lab L3C, Montpelier, Vermont and a research scientist at MIT, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
