Catherine Lambert is a PhD candidate in the Department of Communication at Cornell University, studying risk communication and public acceptance of geothermal energy. After completing a masters in seismology investigating induced seismicity in Oklahoma (Cornell, 2017), Catherine turned her focus to the social impacts of induced earthquakes as a consequence of energy development. Her research examines how communities negotiate the acceptability of new energy technologies like EGS, including the role of risk and benefit perceptions, trust, and communication and engagement efforts in shaping public reactions to EGS projects. Catherine is a 2019 recipient of the Marcelo Lippmann Graduate Scholarship Award.
