Faulds is Nevada State Geologist, Director of Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology, and Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno.  He is a structural geologist with 30+ years experience.  He earned his B.S. at University of Montana, M.S. at University of Arizona, and Ph.D. at University of New Mexico.  He studies crustal deformation, with an emphasis on the evolution of fault systems.  His research also focuses on analyzing structural settings and exploration strategies of geothermal systems.  He has published over 100 papers and dozens of geologic maps, taught courses in structural geology and geothermal exploration, and advised >25 graduate students.
