Dr Isabelle Chambefort is a senior geoscientist at GNS Science, New Zealand. She joined the geothermal group at the Wairakei Research Centre in September 2010, after post-docs at Oregon State University, U.S.A. and CODES University of Tasmania, Australia. She received her PhD (Earth Sciences) from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and a MSc and BSc from the University Blaise Pascal, Clermont-Ferrand, France. She is currently leading several research programmes on high enthalpy geothermal systems of New Zealand, in particular the national research programme Geothermal: The Next Generation. https://www.geothermalnextgeneration.com.
Dr Isabelle Chambefort centers her research on the magmatic hydrothermal geochemical transition in fossil and active hydrothermal systems. Using major, trace elements and stable isotopes geochemistry on minerals and rocks and geothermal fluids, she focuses on understanding mass and fluid transports in the crust, magmas, the source of the volatile and large-scale evolution of magmatism and associated hydrothermal systems.
