Joseph Batir, Ph.D., is a Research Geologist at the SMU Geothermal Laboratory with 10 years of research experience in surface and subsurface mapping for exploration and development, thermal numerical modeling, and data mining. Dr. Batir produced the newest edition of the surface heat flow map of Alaska including four data collection field seasons with XRD, XRF, and thermal conductivity rock analyses. His research interests include hydrocarbon – geothermal coproduction, off grid and micro scale geothermal energy applications, and thermal regime modeling within sparse data regions to find underutilized energy resources.
