Date and Time

Abstract

The Increasing Demand for Geothermal Energy Throughout the U.S.

Geothermal industry leaders gather to discuss the successes for geothermal energy in 2020. This terrific panel of leading industrialists and experts from across the breadth of the geothermal industry present on the leading topics of the day and future market demand. It is clear that we now enter into a period of increased acceptance of geothermal energy as an integral part of a successful transition to a clean and renewable future with eight Power Purchase Agreements signed this calendar year. Presentations will be followed by a public Q&A session and a press conference open to accredited representatives. The industry panel brings together the three different guises of geothermal energy that collectively will enable geothermal anywhere anytime, facilitating expansion across the nation for supply of power and heat at any time of day, including: electricity power generation from deep Earth heat; direct use of Earth heat for local communities and industry; and, heat pumps for heating and cooling homes and businesses. The presenters and panelists include:

  • Nick Goodman, Chief Executive Officer, Cyrq Energy
  • Jonathan Weisgall, Vice President, Berkshire Hathaway Energy Company
  • Jeff Tester, Professor of Sustainable Energy Systems, Cornell University
  • Jay Egg, President, EGG Geothermal HVAC Systems
  • Paul Thomsen, Vice President, Ormat Technologies (Panel Chairman and Moderator)
  • Will Pettitt, Executive Director, Geothermal Resources Council

The panel is brought together by the Policy Committee, an independently funded group of industry leaders within the GRC that advocates on behalf of the geothermal industry and informs government on the future direction of geothermal energy.
