Jeff Witter has over 17 years experience in the Earth sciences in both academia and industry. At Sierra Geothermal Power Corp., Dr. Witter managed the geological and geophysical aspects of the exploration program at the company's four Tier 1 properties in Nevada. Prior to Sierra, Dr. Witter worked as a hydrogeology consultant at Pacific Groundwater Group, in Seattle, Washington and as an exploration geophysicist at ARKeX Ltd. in Cambridge, England. He holds an Advanced Bachelor’s degree (magna cum laude) in geophysics from Occidental College (Los Angeles, California) as well as a Master’s degree from the University of Hawaii and a Ph.D. from the University of Washington, both in volcanic geology. Dr. Witter rounded out his academic career as a post-doctoral researcher in Hawaii modeling heat transfer at active volcanoes. Overall, he has authored or co-authored a dozen scientific articles in the peer-reviewed literature. Currently, Dr. Witter runs his own consulting company, called Innovate Geothermal, providing cutting-edge exploration services to the geothermal industry.
